In some extent, that could be true yet not completely. Those two roles overlap somewhere in certain extent. That is far different from one another. The scrum master could contribute in agile projects that is supported through management principles of a project. While the project manager focusses often in traditional disciplined.

Also, it advocates the management as the shared creation process that works and interacts in delivering that greatest value. That highlight focus into delivering the maximum value from the early project throughout. It describes the time considered the limiting constraint and help in effectively managing the execution and planning.

It rigidly follows the rules then endorses the framework. While the managers would be free in customizing the approaches that might range from adaptive and waterfall. The selection of appropriate method would be base in project demand. Driving in sustaining the competitive environment. The team would be cross functional the means everyone would be needed in taking the feature from merely idea into implementation.

They contribute in resourcing, scope knowledge and quality management part. While the manager would contribute in all of knowledge in it. They work at smaller teams. And responsible in performing the small team. The manager on other hand would handle the bigger team. It handles multiple teams.

The trainer would facilitate in daily meetings. While the PM prepares the meeting communication and calendar plan. Frequency in those meetings would be planned and decided well through the manager. They prepare work schedule in member then assign on responsibilities. They would coach on then motivated them.

They are responsible in delivering outcomes in meeting the requirements. They involve the scope with plans and team activities accordingly. They would be the responsible delegate in every responsibility into every team member. Those people ensure of role assignment that would be according in respective expertise and skills.

The reports in progress would be relevant in stakeholders in time. The tracking of performance against baselines then assures the quality control. Ensuring the documentation and the update in real time. The plans in work schedule of team then ensure the understanding of respective roles at the project. The cross functional through nature is a big plus. Ensuring the delivery in releasable increment in product of every sprint.

They would be skilled at software developing and in product managing. They could be the experts in scrum and having the extensive experience coaching, teaching, leading and applying it. That have been the servant leaders in organizational level. They would be active at software development and local agile communities, the broader agile and movements the better because everyone need someone to handle the teamwork and necessary steps in getting better for oneself.
